Botanic Gardens

At the weekend we went to the Botanic Gardens to enjoy the good weather, and to get in a bit of lunch and a bit of scampering...

Beach!

Last weekend we went to the beach at Barassie. Too windy for the kite, but it was great for running around, suitably waterproofed...
Investigating patterns in the sand
The shells were particularly interesting

Charging down the beach towards the sea...
...and straight into the water for some waterproof paddling.

Yet more gardening

We don't spend the whole time making Andrew do our gardening - it's just a good time to take photos (honest!). Thanks to Uncle Cowlark for these photos...
Some slightly scary fork work
OK, so what exactly is he telling Daddy?

Gardening at home

Q: What do you do on yet another wet summer's day?
A: Put on your red waterproofs and go and do some gardening!

Gardening in Strathaven

We went to visit Auntie Margaret and Uncle Dan in Strathaven yesterday. Andrew helped out by doing some gardening, such as some big digging with the fork...
... and some heavy duty work with the watering can...
... and some brushing of grass...
... and some brushing of hair.
There was, however, time for a quick cup of (rather sandy) tea...
... and a bit of trampolining with Daddy.
We also suggested a ride on the red motorbike, but he wasn't having it...

Iona

We've just had a week on Iona, staying in the Abbey and taking part in Community Week. Andrew had a great time, scampering on perfect turf tended by the Ministry for Tidy Ruins...
... and botanising in the Nunnery...
... and sitting by the pier...
... and walking in the Abbey precinct. The sheep beyond the ha-ha were particularly exciting, as they kept on roaring like lions. (Quite a lot of animals roar, including pigs and occasionally chickens)
More sheep, the Abbey with much less scaffolding than it used to have, and glimpses of St John's and St Martin's crosses
A less-photographed cross: the war memorial looking across to Mull
The Breaking of Bread in the glorious Abbey cloisters...
... and some surreptitious Breaking of Parsnip Chips behind the buggy
Some rather less surreptitious botanising in the Nunnery
'The Fallen Christ' outside the Macleod Centre, by Ronald Rae (which was impressively trucked in last year)
A good time had by all!

Peas

Andrew is getting very good at picking and shelling peas and broad beans from the garden (he's not bad at eating them as well...)
